Overview

This document provides a plain-English introduction to the DnsStream End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”). It is intended to help you understand what the EULA covers before you read it in full. It is a summary only and does not form part of the EULA. In the event of any conflict between this overview and the EULA, the EULA prevails.

The full EULA is included in the DnsStream distribution archive as eula.txt and is available at eula.txt.

By downloading, installing, or using DnsStream, you agree to be bound by the EULA.

What the EULA covers

The EULA is the legal agreement between you - whether you are an individual or an organisation - and Telemity Ltd, the company that develops and distributes DnsStream. It sets out the terms under which you are permitted to use the software, what you may and may not do with it, and the basis on which Telemity provides it.

The same EULA applies to both editions of DnsStream. Where the terms differ between editions - for example in relation to subscription requirements and support - this is clearly distinguished within the agreement itself.

The two editions

DnsStream Core is free to use, including in commercial environments, with no licence key, no registration, and no subscription required. The EULA grants you a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to run Core on as many servers as you need.

DnsStream Assured is available under a paid per-server subscription. The EULA grants you a licence to run Assured on the number of servers covered by your active subscription. Running Assured features without a valid subscription is a breach of the EULA.

Key points

  • Core is free for commercial internal use
  • Assured is licensed per DNS server
  • No source code licence is granted
  • DnsStream may not be redistributed or offered as a hosted service
  • DNS telemetry data remains entirely within the customer’s infrastructure
  • DnsStream does not transmit operational telemetry to Telemity
  • Assured subscriptions can downgrade to Core on expiry
  • Support differs between Core and Assured editions
  • The software is provided “as is” without warranty
  • Liability is limited to the extent permitted by law
  • English and Welsh law governs the agreement
